Sympathy.Card

Hi all, I made this for a friend her lost her Dad last week. I used a "Lord have Mercy" sketch but missed the posting date. Darn! I hate that. I was last weeks sketch challenge.

I am entering this is the Shabby Tea Room "Old meets New" challenge for this week. The button is old. The rest is fairly new. I have only been paper crafting for 2 years so most of my stuff is new. BUT, that divine paper from Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry line is kinda vintage. God, is it gorgeous!
I embossed the cream colored CS which is textured like watercolor paper. So pretty! I purposely stamped the SU flower image lightly with chalk ink so it could look watercolored then stamped the sentiment over it in brown (momento rich cocoa).
I used some cream ribbon I got at Joannes (?) and some bakers twine in brown/white. Did you get some yet? It's very "in" right now! I got mine from Papertrey but could kick myself cuz a day later Die Cuts R us had it cheaper and in lots of pretty colors.
Thanks for looking.
Kim

SSD.Release Day

Hi all, It's Release Day at Sassy Studio Designs. You must go to the Sassy blog and check out all the cute new releases! Link below.
http://sassystudiodesigns.blogspot.com/2010/09/release-day.html

I used a new Little Honey image -Briar Rose, a fairy tale character that I have never heard of. I had to look up the story on the Internet. So glad I did! She is adorable! I went with a storybook paper from Once Upon a Time (DCWV). Of course I had to use some kind of Rose. I decided to use a rose die cut shape from Indie Art Cricut Cart.

I used the color challenge over at Our Creative Corner for the color theme of the card. When I saw that challenge the paper from Once Upon a Time popped into my head. I had visions of even more distressing but I'm new to distressing ( have my new Tim Holtz tool). I didn't know how hard to do it. I can't believe how resilient paper can be. I had plans of doing a little lacing embellishment on the tear but didn't. Sometimes I just too apprehensive to try something because I don't want to wreck it. I'll try it next time!

Enjoy the new Sassy Studio Design Little Honeys!

Dare.to.be.Sassy.Thursday

Hi all, This week's challenge is to make a back to school teacher gift. I used Sassy Studio Design image Rah Rah Rhonda. The teacher I made this for is a cheer coach as well. I know, it should have been a little more teacher related but I wanted to use this image, it's so cute!

I decided on a red, white and blue color scheme. I used DCWV summer stack from a few years ago (Star Paper) I used a few shades of blue bazzil CS. I used the star embossing folder and the EK star punch. The red polka dot button is doodlebug and the others are unknown. Ribbon-Papertrey Ink.

I made a little matchbox box (TBBM cart, cricut) with an acetate window and filled with chocolate footballs. I added some bakers twine and a star shaped gem. There is Stickles on the pom poms but you can't see it.
Sketch is SFYTT #43 this week.

Under.The.Sea.SSD

Hi all,

I colored up a cute Sassy Studio Design image Mermaid Mandy for the Dare to be Sassy Thursday Challenge "inspired by a song" My song is Disney's "Under the Sea". I wanted to make a summer card with bright colors because pretty soon...we'll all be using fall colors. BooHoo. :(

I love summer but boy, this one has been sooooo hot. For this card I used Cosmo Cricut dsp, the striped piece is unknown origin. I used a spots and dots embossing folder, stickles, raindots, prisma pencils, sewing machine, gems. These little Honey images are so cute.

Inspired by a song #34

Is this how you do vintage?

This is my first attempt at vintage. I think I did it correctly! The paper is Me and my big Ideas paper. It's a verve stamp and the flowers are making memories ( I think) called flea market finds from Michaels. I also used my new Waltzing mouse stamp that matches the spellbinders label. I added lace from Joannes and ribbon and pearls. I also used vintage photo distress ink.

Pedi.Party.SSD

Hi all, This card's challenge is a polka dot challenge from Sassy Studio Design. I used SSD's image called Pedi-Party to create a gift bag for a friends birthday present. I purchased some lotion and cologne from Bath and Body Works that she was admiring when we were shopping, and covered the label with patterned paper and some oval labels.
I used some new Basic Grey paper from the Olivia line, 6x6. I paper-pieced the chair and colored the rest of the image. I used Storybook to cut the marquee2 cut and the ovals.
Thanks for looking!

Thinking of you

Hi Sassy Friends,
I made this card for the Dare to be Sassy Thursday Challenge, Get Punchy and a few other challenges. This is my first Guest Designer card for Sassy Studio Design for the Month of August.

The sketch is from CPS this week. I was inspired to make this card with Pink and Black for a few more challenges. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Pink, Black & White! I think it's my favorite color combination!

I chose this Sassy Studio Design Image, Cocoa Carol to play with. Love it. It is very versitle, not just a winter image, as you can see. My original idea was to put the sentiment " I chair-ish our friendship" but I ran out of steam so I chose something else. I like it though, because she's thinking and her eyes are closed and she is dreaming of her honey! (hence, the hearts!)
It's a tad clean and simple for me. I usually like alot of layers but I think this works for this card.
The details:
Bazzil CS, K&Co Patterned Paper-White/Black, SU-Pink PP.
Fiskars-Punch, name unknown
Prisma Pencils, OMS, Glossy Accents
Silver twine-Michaels, K&Co-little black hearts, gems
Sewing machine
Hugs, Kim
P.S. I knew that if I was a guest designer, I would learn alot by pushing myself to learn and get better. That happened today when I tried to make my photo look better by brightening it in photo editing software. ( It took forever!) The photo was dark because I had to take it inside, no sun today anyway.

I might have brightened a little too much and lost some of the detail but it's alot better than it was. Live and learn!

margarita.bithday

Click picture to see larger.

Hi blog friends! I made this card for a friend who make one heck of a margarita! No one makes them better. :) The image is from Whimsy Doodle. It was a freebie from a while back. I used Basic Grey's Lime Rickey paper. I colored the image with prisma pencils the added Ranger's Glossy Accents to the margarita glass for shine. I also used MS glitter for the "salt". It was very fun to make.
Hugs, Kim

Wakefield.Wedding

Hi all, I made this card for a friends wedding in August. It's simple but the word art gives it pizazz! I cut the words from the Storybook cartridge with my Cricut.
I entered this card in a couple of challenges listed below.
I used K&Co. paper, don't recall the name. A prima pearl butterfly, ribbon, button and flat back pearls finish it off. I also used glitter paper for the white oval on the cut. Thanks for looking.
