Pantone Radiant Orchid, not quite.

Hi Friends, I made this card with the Flourishes FTTC 256 in mind which is to use the 2014 Pantone Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid (or any purple). I didn't use orchid but did use a Plum card stock from SU. I just got this CS and it's very pretty. I used the Violets set from Flourishes as well and Copic Markers. I credit Cindy L., my Copic Certification teacher for my being able to color these leaves with realism because we practiced on a similar image in class. :)
For the rest of the card, I used BG Plumeria papers and dry embossed the top piece with Victoria Cuttlebug folder. I added scalloped lace, seam binding, a lock charm, pearl swirls, flat back pearls and spellbinder dies. I followed the Tuesday Morning Sketch challenge also, switching the square for an oval.

Other challenges I'm submitting to are:
Bloggers Challenge -Embossing
As you like it Challenge -My favorite style ( I like a clean and layered with lots of interest, pretty design paper, vibrant colors, many layers.)

Yours Truly

Happy Saturday! I have a Valentine's Day card today. I've been wanting to give this Deconstructed Sketch 135 a try ever since Thursday. It's so fun and different! I was delighted to make this card using the new Fancy Pants Valentine paper Beloved for a nice trendy card.

I used a Flourishes stamp set Love Sweet Love for the image and sentiment. I'll submit this to the current Flourishes FFTC because my papers and stamp set are new for the "in with the new" challenge.

I also had The Pink Elephant 234 color challenge this week which is Red, Pink and ???? your choice. I chose Aqua. The finishing touches to the card are sequins (Joannes) some metallic red twine (Michael's) and a Martha Stewart mini doily.

I wish I thought to use the SC wood veneer hearts on the card! But I still love it as is...
I just love my card making hobby, truly!

FTTC & CC#2

Hey there Bloggers, Got another card to share today. I'm sharing a card I made for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge 255, make a card with something "new" such as new baby in this case. I've used a Flourishes stamp set, name unknown (couldn't find it on the Flourishes site)  colored with Copics. I tried the pointillism technique. Not sure if it's correct but I gave it a shot. (Click on photo for a closer look). I chose markers to match the Echo Park This and That Charming design paper. The sentiment is Flourishes Tag Lines.
Keeping the Card Concept challenge #2 in mind, which is to add texture to your card, I used the Birds and Swirls embossing folder to mirror the bird and leaves in the stamp. The May Arts twine is very textural too!
My card style is Clean and Layered. This week's Mojo Monday Sketch 329 was used as well.

I've got babies on the brain because I'm gonna be a Grama soon, in a few months. There will be more baby cards forthcoming. :)

Butterfly wishes

Hi Friends, I'm sharing a card today I made for a few challenges. The main challenge I had in mind is the new Card Concept Challenge #1. I used the colors listed in the inspiration photo. Image below.

My card style for this one is Shabby Chic/Vintage because of the sponged edges, vintage style newspaper print (MME) on the designer paper and the stitching. I was planing on making a birthday card but when I pulled out the MFT butterfly stamp set and dies, I decided to used the sentiments included in the set. The leafy flourish and the tab are also MFT.  I followed the Cardabilities #91 sketch this week which is another challenge I've never played in.

I'm sure you all noticed all the stamp company and challenge blog closings at the end of last year, many of which I used to follow. So now we'll all have to settle into new ones. I'm very intrigued by the different card styles that Lesley listed at the Card Concept and want to try them all at some point.

Some other challenges I'll submit this to are:
Aud Sentiments -Any Sentiment
In the pink challenge -Anything w/pink
Moving along with the Times - Girly
7Kids College Fund -Anything goes

Thanks for stopping by!

The Shabby Tea Room Guest Designer

Yippee! I'm guest designing for The Shabby Tea Room this week!! I won the opportunity by making a tag during the "Terrific Tags" Challenge in December! This week's Shabby Tea Room challenge is a sketch challenge. See image below.
Oh my gosh, I had the most boring card made to submit to Debbie and I said "Wait a minute, I can't submit this!" :) What can I do to fix it? (It was all laid out but not glued down). Thinking about the "new to me" card styles I've been seeing in blogland, I took another approach to the sketch. A Freestyle Collage/Clean and layered approach. Or at least my interpretation of it! :) I have all the basic shapes or elements of the sketch, I just moved them around a bit, creative license, right? Of course my sewing machine decided not to work this morning, making big knots on the back of the paper and locking up. ugh,

I'm very happy with it. Much more modern and interesting with some vellum throw in to make it trendy!

So tell me, if you've seen Freestyle Collage cards around the blogosphere, did I make one? Please visit The
Shabby Tea Room this week and play along!

Flourishes FTTC

Hi Friends, today I'm sharing a card I made for the  Flourishes FTTC 253  challenge which is a shaped card challenge. They will be choosing multiple winners for the January release so play along if you can!

I chose a circle shape and followed the Mojo Monday 326 sketch. I used Basic Grey patterned paper, Plumeria and Flourishes Roses are Red stamp set. For the sentiment I used Flourishes Tag Lines. The circle shapes are Spellbinder dies, the largest one I had but it's still a small card.

Funny story, while making this card I was wondering what would I use it for. Since it's small, I figured I'd use it with a gift or something. Also while making it I was admiring the "for your hospitality" stamp included in the set and thinking I would rarely if ever have a use for it.
Low and behold, our hot water heater broke and we had to go over to my daughter's house to use their shower. Yay! I was able to stamp "for your hospitality" inside and leave it on the shelf in Jessica's bathroom to thank her. Just a fun little thing to do with a card I wasn't sure I'd use.

I'm also linking this up to The Pink Elephant 232 Thank you challenge this week.

Curtain Call

Hi Friends, I'm playing in the Curtain Call Challenge Smitten today and the Mojo Monday 326 sketch challenge. I've been want to color this cutie from Whimsy Doodles  Pie Lizzie for the longest time. I decided to use the Curtain Call Inspiration photo to get me started with the colors I wanted to use. Image is below. Then I was delighted that she had oven mitts on to tie into the mitten image on the inspiration photo as well!
I stamped Sweet Pie from a PTI set. I can later stamp the inside with a Thank you, a Birthday or just about anything. The papers are a mixture of Basic Grey and MME.

A close up look.

Shaker Card FTTC 252

Brrrrrrr.....Hi Bloggers! It's very cold in the N.E. of America, in case you haven't heard or don't live around these parts. Below is the view out one of my dining room windows between the blinds! What better way to spend a snow day off than in my warm craft room. I've even made a little tutorial today in case you've never seen how to use craft foam to make a shaker card. ( I bet you already know, just humor me!)

First I have to tell you that I'm playing in the Flourishes FTTC 252  which is to make a shaker card. How fun! It's been a while since I've made one. And I've used the Deconstructed Sketch 132 for the layout. Other challenge links will be below.

So, I got this Fun Foam at Michael's. It has a sticky back. You can click on the photos to make them bigger.
Just use 2 circles close in size to make rings Peel of the backing and stick one on top of the other if you want more room.
I used a piece of packaging for the acetate cover, which I also cut with spellbinder dies.

Then I made a card stock ring to put on top of the foam and acetate.

Put in your glitter, beads or what have you. Mine are iridescent flakes I got somewhere.

I used glossy accents to glue it together. Then made a fabulous card with adorable matching sled paper from Bo Bunny using Jenn's sketch. The winter image is, of course, Flourishes "Snow Days" and the sentiment is Flourishes too. Studio Calico snowflakes and The Twinery twine finish it off.

Glad you stopped by. Thanks for humoring me with the long post. KIM

January 1st! A few challenges

Hey there! It's a new year and an another change to get it right! (Oprah W.) That saying is so hopeful! I missed MFTWSC from last week, darn it. I really don't know what day it is, but my vacation ends tomorrow!  This card uses that sketch. I'm also paying in The Colour Q Challenge 222 , to use Black, white, gray and gold and the Shabby Tea Room Challenge 199, to use Kraft, black and white.

In this shot you can see the gold embossing powder. How I made it is pretty self-explanatory but if you have questions, please email me or leave a comment. More challenge links below.
