Flutterby TCC119

Hey Friends, I was very inspired by the Card Concept 119 inspiration photo this time. I decided to make a mixed media vintage card. I took out my MFT Butterfly wishes stamp set (maybe retired) and inked up the butterflies by stamping each in two shades of ink. I touched them up with some colored pencils. I then sponged around the edges with Antique Linen distress ink and splatter some gold spray and white paint on top.

Using sketch 339 from Case this sketch I diecut and vellum square and gold heat embossed the sentiment. Deviating somewhat from the sketch I placed a punched butterfly and gold thread in the right corner and added some gold bling. The photo does not capture this as pretty as it is in person.

Happy Anniversary

Hi Friends, I am thrilled to be asked to Guest Star for The Color Throwdown Challenge!

They provided a elegant, colorful floral color palette and inspiration photo to work with. You've got to play this week!

I had to pull out my WPlus9 Ranunculus stamp set. The golden flatware inspired me to gold heat emboss my image and I colored the blooms with Copic markers. I used more gold powder to heat emboss the Verve sentiment. (The inside says ...a happy anniversary). The Pretty Pink Posh scalloped frame was die cut with gold foil cardstock. I added a few tiny black splatters and sparkling clear sequins to finish it.

My in-laws our celebrating 70 years married next week! I was thrilled to use the Color Throwdown #558 to make their card.

Make sure you check out the design teams' cards as well. Thanks for stopping by!

Thinking of you

Hmmmm. Do I remember how to do a blog post? It's been months Friends!

I had won this Simon says Stamp Stamp and die set months ago and never inked it up. It's called Delicate Flowers (click the name for a link) It's really beautiful and has wonderful sentiments. I edited this card photo on my phone for Instagram so the colors are a bit dull, sorry! My Instagram account is @kjl571.

I'm playing in a few challenges with this card and had them all in mind while creating.
First was the Color Throwdown 556 . I knew I wanted to color the flower yellow so the colors were perfect for this. I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens or whatever they are called! HaHa.
Next I wanted to use the 400th sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. The sky is the limit with this sketch. I sponged my background on Bristol with Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire.

Then added some Mermaid Lagoon Spatters and some water spots. The third challenge is the SSS Instagram challenge which I can't link but this fits the SSS Wed. Challenge Mid-Summer Blues so it's all good.

I hand cut a flag banner and stamped the sentiment, added a few sequins and called it done.
Thanks for visiting!

The Card Concept 115

Hey Friends, I made a card for The Card Concept 115 challenge. I used SU Delicate Doilies to get the circle shapes similar to the inspiration photo. I heat embossed them and the SSS sentiment in clear powder. I then added a yellow and orange distress oxide inks with the smooshing technique.
I heat embossed a sentiment in white on black and added black and silver sequins. Other challenge below.
Bye for now.

Lawn Fawnatics 51

Hey Friends, I'm playing in the Lawn Fawnatics challenge 51 today. I love a sketch challenge so I had to play. I used Hello Baby from Lawn Fawn and colored with Copics with white gel pen accents.

In the same coordinating die set is the cute little clouds dies so I cut them with patterned paper. I don't know which paper line this is, the cover on the 6x6 pad was missing but it's at least 5 years old.
I used a butterfly punch to match the background paper. When creating this I was going by memory and forgot to add the horizontal element. Opps!

On another note, I stepped down from the The Card Concept Design Team. (to have more time for scrapbooking in travelers notebooks) But here I am playing in the challenge! The bunny is what inspired me to use this stamp set. I'll always love the Card Concept Challenge and my lovely team members.

The Card Concept 111

Hey Friends, Welcome to The Card Concept Challenge #111. I love shells and all things beachy! I did buy a new-to-me stamp and die set from Avery Elle called The Reef.
I started with a piece of bristol card stock for distress inking of the background. I use Tumbled Glass, Vintage Photo and Antique linen. After sponging I used clean water and watered down distress inks for flicking.
I stamped the coral shapes on the background and stamped more shell shapes which were die cut out.
With a Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped frame die I cut out 5 frames and stacked them with a piece of acetate under the top one. I put the die cut shells and some sequins inside and adhered down.  The sentiment is from the same set.
My mind is getting ready to think about the beach again. Winter is so long in New England but warm weather will be here eventually! Come play with us and visit the blog too!

The Card Concept 110

Hi Friends, Ya, March is here, spring is around the corner! The Card Concept 110 has a great inspiration for you.
I tried to go Vintage or Shabby Chic with this card. I used the colors from the pieced Shamrock in the photo for my shamrocks. Although I distress it, it wasn't enough. Just looking at it now, some splatters would have helped. I cut the shamrocks out with a die from Paper Smooches with various 6x6 papers. I machine-stitched thru the centers and added hand stitched buttons. I roughed up the edges of the panels with a Tim Holtz distress tool and added Antique Linen distress ink.
I hope you join us this week. Stop by the blog and check out the fun!

LawnFawnatics 48

"Puff the magic dragon, lives by the sea......."
Are you singing it?  I am!

I need a birthday card for a very special boy who will be 5 this week. I pulled out one of my favorite sets from Lawn Fawn, Critters Ever After, and colored up the cute Dragon.

Boy, am I rusty with my copics! I haven't used them much in months. I am distracting you all from the bad coloring with the white gel pen dots which really add such a cute whimsical feel. I used Lawn Fawn's cloud border dies, MFT's cloud stencil and paper pieced balloons from Lawn Fawn's Party Animal set.

I gold embossed the sentiment and added teeny-tiny stars. The crown is diecut with gold foil paper, the camera caught the reflection in a strange way.
So for the challenge at Lawn Fawnatics 48, the inspiration is Puff the Magic Dragon.

The Card Concept 109

Hey Friends, We have such a cute inspiration photo challenge for you this week at The Card Concept 109!  It just so happened I had the fabulous birthday paper with the paper fans on it that matched the photo.
I heat embossed my Avery Elle pineapple in gold powder and water colored it with zig markers. I fussy cut out because I don't have the dies. The sentiment is from the same set which I heat embossed in white.
To put it together I dry embossed a white card stock panel with a star embossing folder, added a doodlebug doily and some enamel hearts.

I hope you come play along with us. You can choose what ever inspires you from the photo!
Thanks for visiting today!

The Card Concept 108

Hey Friends, welcome to the new The Card Concept 108 challenge! It's almost Valentine's Day so this inspiration photo should come in handy to get some cards done! It can work for other love related cards too.
I tried to have large bold elements on my card like the pillows in the photo. For my clean and layered card I kept it mostly free of clutter and tried to have just one large focal point. I thought about it later that I could have sponged on Antique Linen Distress ink and roughed up the edges to make it Shabby Chic/Vintage.

The stamp set is Simon Says Stamp "Really like you'. I heat embossed the sentiment in clear powder over VersaFine Black ink. The background paper is from a 2012 line of crate paper I believe. I added a doily and bow and called it done.

The Card Concept 107

Hey Friends, Welcome to The Card Concept 107! We all love a rainbow design, right? I do. I was inspired to make my clean and layered card from the rainbow cupcakes. It made me think of my Lawn Fawn set  Baked with Love. Actually everything on this card is Lawn Fawn including the Really Rainbow paper and the Scalloped Box Die.

I stamped the images on Copic Express It card stock and colored with Copics. I die cut them out and die cut the box die. The dies for the mats on the flaps come with the die set too.
This was fun to put together and is earmarked for a sweet young adult in my family.

I hope you all play with us this week. Don't forget to visit The Card Concept blog and see what the other designers have made!
Until next time,
Kim

The Card Concept 106

Hi Friends! We back from our break and ready to play at The Card Concept 106! I super love this inspiration photo! I did deviate a bit from the pinks in the flowers, not intentional but oh well, it's ok.

I like the black and white accents on the photo so I found some patterned papers that were close. They are much more black in real life but I over-lightened my photo and blacks got washed out a bit.

I stamped a stamp from Newton's Nook, Cocktail Mixer, colored with Copics and die cut it out with a stitched circle. I bundled up a nest of gold thread to put under the die cut and added some gold sequins and a gold clip.
The inside stamp from the same set says "why limit happy to an hour?" So funny!

There are some gorgeous cards from the design team over at The Card Concept Blog so please check them out!
Until next time, Kim
